Gilas Pilipinas naturalized player made himself into a scoring machine and scored 41 points against team Kazakhstan.
If the Los Angeles Lakers got their LeBron James to anchor their offense, Gilas got their own and without a doubt that’s Andray Blatche.
Apart from scoring he also does almost everything as he stuffed the stat sheet with his stellar performance. The former Brooklyn Nets player also had 13 rebounds, three assists, four steals and two block shots.
Blatche’s 41 points was his best scoring production since donning the Gilas Pilipinas jersey.
However, with his intense desire to win he might forgot to protect himself from foul trouble. With less than four minutes remaining in the third quarter, he absorbed his fourth foul and coach Yeng Guiao immediately pulled him out to preserve his forward for the final push in the fourth quarter.
“It was a very emotional game for us. We knew what’s at stake for us. It’s either we win or go home. I feel like we competed from the jump till the end,” said Blatche.
“We had some minor speed bumps in the game. Fouling, and being too emotional. But we stood to it,” he added.
Along with Gilas Pilipinas, Blatche will be coming back to the FIBA World Cup and this time will be played in China. The last time they were there was back in 2014 which was held in Spain.
