Gilas Pilipinas naturalized player Andray Blatche is set to return with the Philippines men’s basketball team and reinforce the national squad to qualify for the 2019 FIBA World Cup.

Once again Blatche used Theia Sports social media account to convey his message related to this news.

The former Brooklyn Nets player in the NBA wasn’t able to join the Gilas squad due to suspension and in the last two outings of the fifth window, coach Yeng Guiao decided not to include him on the final roster.

Instead, he utilized the services of Stanley Pringle and Christian Standhardinger as an alternate naturalized player when Philippines faced team Kazakhstan and team Iran all played in the Mall of Asia Arena.

Those games turned out to be all losses and the chances of Gilas to qualify for the 2019 FIBA World Cup in China is now in jeopardy.

Although there’s already confirmation from Blatche but still not yet final according to coach Yeng as per his interview with rappler.

“Being considered but nothing final yet,” said Guiao.

However, based on the comments of Al Panlilio (SBP President), they are now working out with Blatche’s agent.

“Status is he is saying he is committed and we are working out matters with his agent,” Panlilio said.

Gilas is set to play against team Qatar on February 21, 2019 then on the final day of the asian qualifiers, Philippine team will face team Kazakhstan.

All of the remaining games of Gilas will be played on the road.
