The grandest stage of the FIBA 2018 Under-18 Asian Championship tournament is now set and it will be the Tall Blacks and the Boomers.
The young Australian Boomers has no problem disposing the Gilas Pilipinas in their semi-finals match yesterday.
Their suffocating back-court defense and limiting the twin towers of team Philippines secured them to gain the ticket going to the championship round.
Boomers big-men Samson Froling and Callum Dalton led the Australian attack. Froling logged 12 points while Dalton added 10 markers where six of his points were back-to-back three-pointers.
For the Tall Blacks on the other hand, they had a much competitive game against team China as both team fought for the Finals seat.
With less than a minute remaining in the fourt quarter, team China threatened to make a comeback as they cut the lead of team New Zealand to only four points, 80-84.
However, Tall Blacks’ Maxwell Darling completly shuts the door for team China after he converted a follow-up dunk.
Darling led New Zealand with 24 points while teammate Kruz Ambrose Roger Perrott-Hunt added 21 points.
