The Romeo trade was approved by the PBA Commissioner’s office prior to New Year’s day but the former scoring champ still hasn’t show-up with his new team.
The former FEU Tamaraw standout is a known skillful scorer but in order for him to deliver his goods, the basketball should always be in his hands.
That’ll be one of the major adjustments Romeo has to deal with as coach Austria’s system is more on ball movement.
“Kung ang laro niya malimit ang bola sa kanya, mga 60 percent, in this team, they have to share the ball. With his talent, he could help the team. He could ease the pressure from the other guards. That’s a good sign for our team,” said Austria.
Although Romeo still hasn’t joined any of the SMB practice yet, the four-time Philippine Cup champion coach already had a pep talk with the enigmatic guard.
“That’s the first thing he wants to have. He wants to win a championship,” said Austria.
For Terrence to accomplish what he wanted to do this 44th PBA season, one of the things coach Austria needs him to do is to adopt.
“It will depend on the environment,” Austria said. “With the environment like this, he has to adopt. Wala naman siya ipagmamalaki dito. We talked about it dahil although he has a lot of achievements individually, I think wala pa siyang championship.”
