The Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI), regarded as among the country’s biggest and most reliable banking institutions released an official statement regarding the controversy concerning the account of Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte who was accused by Senator Antonio Trillanes having P211 million in deposits.
Based on BPI, they are devoted on safeguarding client’s details and according to their inside investigations there has been no such break.
In a statement revealed on the web by Bank of the Philippine Islands they mentioned that “Our internal investigation reveals that there has been no such breach,” as they stated also that they’re committed to protecting client information. BPI spoke up and rejected the accusations that it has violated client’s privacy.

BPI‘s official statement emerged following a call for bank run from the followers of Mayor Rody Duterte after Vice Presidential aspirant Senator Antonio Trillanes IV revealed a table with the believed credit transactions of Mayor Rody Duterte with Bank of the Philippine Islands, involving about P211 million.
Based on Jose Teodoro Limcaoco, the Managing Director as well as the Chief Financial Officer of Ayala Corporation, who owns the bank, BPI didn’t breach any laws. In a statement to the press he was cited as saying “I dont know where Sen. Trillanes got his information, but the graphic posted by the (Philippine Daily) Inquirer showing alleged credits, that is not a BPI document,” Limcaoco said.
Apart from Senator Trillanes who continuesly targeting Mayor Duterte, the group of Liberal Party (LP) standard-bearer Mar Roxas exhibited a picture of bank receipt from BPI showing the account Duterte and his daughter Sara Duterte.The bank receipt from PDI also showed identical results with Mar Roxas.
“The bank officer Limcaoco counters Mar Roxas Sen. Trillanes statement by saying that The deposit slip shown by Mar or the Inquirer is not a unique thing. All banks will show the name of the depositor on a deposit slip,”.
