Here are the live scores, updates, and results of the 2021 PBA Philippine Cup between the Barangay Ginebra San Miguel Gin Kings and the Terrafirma Dyip, scheduled on September 3, 2021, at 3:00 PM.
Heading into this match, Barangay Ginebra is aiming to make it a three-way tie for fourth with NLEX Road Warriors and San Miguel Beer, teams with identical 3-2 slates.
The Gin Kings are hoping to play with momentum after Christian Standhardinger’s buzzer-beater against his old team NorthPort Batang Pier, 87-85, at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City on July 30.
With one second left, Standhardinger converted the game-winning layup off a Stanley Pringle miss to help the Gin Kings get back on track and earn their second conference victory.
After leading for the first three quarters, the Batang Pier were unable to maintain their lead in the fourth quarter, as Ginebra took the lead, 74-73, on a LA Tenorio free throw with less than five minutes remaining.
With only two minutes remaining, the Gin Kings embarked on a blitzing 11-5 run to take a 7-point lead, 85-78.
The Batang Pier, on the other hand, came back and knotted the game at 85 with 30 seconds left, thanks to a Sean Anthony free throw.
In the next play, Pringle turned the ball over, but Japeth Aguilar was able to block Jamie Malonzo’s possible game-winning dunk in transition.
On the opposite end, Pringle missed a possible game-winning shot, but Standhardinger was there to clean up the mess and give Ginebra the win.
Pringle led the Gin Kings with 24 points on 10-of-19 shooting, while Tenorio chipped up with 20 points, seven assists, and five rebounds.
On the other hand, Terrafirma is eyeing another upset following a 110-104 overtime triumph over San Miguel Beermen.
On Wednesday, September 1, Dyip beat all odds in their 2021 PBA restart debut, winning a dramatic overtime upset triumph over the SMB at the DHVSU Gym in Bacolor, Pampanga.
Terrafirma (1-4) broke a four-game losing streak with a hard-earned breakthrough win, while the ultra-stacked Beermen (3-2) fell to fifth position.
Juami Tiongson had the game of his life in place of Joshua Munzon and Roosevelt Adams, who were both out due to injury. He finished with a career-high 28 points, as well as team-highs of 7 assists and 3 steals.
Aldrech Ramos backstopped his effort with 17 points and eight rebounds on 7-of-11 shooting, while Joseph Gabayni led the bench with an double-double of 11 points and 15 rebounds.
After falling behind by as many as 14 points, 61-75, early in the fourth quarter, the Dyip rallied to tie the game, 95-all, with 44 seconds left on a Tiongson mid-range jumper.
After both teams failed to capitalize on their final possessions in regulation, Tiongson and Terrence Romeo traded bombs in overtime before Terrafirma made vital stops and gradually expanded their lead through clutch free throws.
Eric Camson quietly clinched the job with two charities after a large rebound for the 107-102 advantage after Chris Ross missed a contested basket with 37 seconds left.
