Our Batang Gilas has touched down in Qatar for some exhibition games to help polish their skills for the upcoming 2019 FIBA U-19 World Cup.
The Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas has published in their social media page that the Philippines representative for the under 19 basketball big event has arrived in Doha, Qatar.
Batang Gilas head coach Sandy Arespacochaga said that they’ll make use of their middle east scheduled games to improve their defensive strategies and others that will help improve their chances to make it to the quarterfinals round.
“We will use this time to work on our defensive schemes and rotations,” said Coach Sandy Arespacochaga.
The 2019 FIBA U-19 World Cup will start on June 29 until July 7.
The young Gilas squad are eyeing to at least a first round playoffs slot.
The squad comprised of Kai Sotto, AJ Edu, Dave Ildefonso and others will first meet the host country Greece on their tournament opener then followed by Argentina and lastly Russia.
