The Blackwater Elite is scheduled for a head-to-head game against the Columbian Dyip at 4:30 P.M. on April 22, 2018 live from the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
The second conference of PBA season 43 will start this afternoon. Both the Elite and the Columbian Dyip are looking for a fresh start and winning their first game will surely set their momentum going forward.
Speaking of fresh start, Kia franchise has decided to change their team name this second conference. They’re now called the Columbian Dyip, coach Ricky Dandan and the entire team staff hoping that this change will give them good fortune.
Last conference, the team shown renewed energy when they have acquired three Beermen in exchange for their rights for 2017 first overall pick. Ronald Tubid, Rashawn McCarthy and JayR Reyes gave their new squad not only new looks but leadership. The experience they have acquired when they were playing with San Miguel franchise.
However, after few games have passed, Kia (now Columbian Dyip) lost its traction and became like a puching bag of opposing teams. The only victory they got was against the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters.
Chris Gavina resigned from his role as the head coach then joined the Valenzuela Classics of the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League. At the later stage of the 2017-18 PBA Philippine Cup, Kia added Carlo Lastimosa but wasn’t still in his true form due to injury.
Despite of winning five victories in the All-Filipino conference, Blackwater missed the playoffs due to PBA quotient system set by the league.
John Paul Erram was the consolation prize for coach Leo Isaac, as the 6’8 big-man slowly making buzz because of his performance especially operating inside the paint.
Michael DiGregorio, Mac Belo, Allein Maliksi and even rookie Raymar Jose will be the main locals who are expected to support their import.
