The PBA has published in their transactions page that “Rock-en-Roll” Almazan is ready to make his 2019 PBA Commissioner’s Cup debut.
“Re-activated Raymond Almazan in lieu of Mr. Mike Tolomia, who has been relegated to the team’s Injured/Reserve List.”
According to Meralco head coach Norman Black, the former Letran Knights standout was ready to play last week when they played versus his former team, the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters but the grand-slam coach choose to sideline him to give him more time for conditioning.
“He actually could have played (May 31) but he was off for eight weeks and he only had two days of practice,” Black said.
The veteran head coach don’t want to risk another injury to happen for his off-conference acquisition.
“So I didn’t risk it, possibly having him injured again because he’s really not in shape. Instead I decided to give him a week to get in shape in time for the Phoenix game.”
Almazan last PBA game was during February 13, 2019 in the All-Filipino Cup. He logged five points and 14 rebounds against the Magnolia Hotshots Pambansang Manok.
His trade to the Bolts was completed when his former squda, the Elasto Painters agreed for 2019 and 2021 first round picks swap.
