Bong Ravena, Mark Dickel Explains Why There Are Tons Of Guards In TNT

TNT KaTropa head coach Bong Ravena and team’s consultant Mark Dickel shed light why there are so many guards in their squad.

Apart from starting point guard Jayson Castro, RR Pogoy and Ryan Reyes, Talk ‘N Text added more players to its backcourt position.

Prior to the start of the 45th PBA season, TNT is among the active teams in the league making deals to boost their upcoming campaign.

They made two trades where they have acquired Simon Enciso and Ed Daquioag. Likewise, they were able to snag the services of Jjay Alejandro and Gryann Mendoza from the free-agent market. During the 2019 PBA Draft, they picked Kib Montalbo and Val Chauca.

“Actually, ‘yung mga guards namin, for evaluation pa eh para anuhin talaga namin kung sino ang iba-back-up namin kay Jayson,” said Ravena. “We still have time para mahimay namin kung sino talaga ‘yung back-up ni Jayson.”

“Although marami kami, pwede naman sila sa team namin. Nasa team pa rin sila eh. We can still get them para doon sa lineup. Anytime, puwede namin sila i-activate,” said Ravena.

For active consultant Dickel, he is looking to boost its frontcourt. However, the commodity he is trying to get is hard to find.

“Where are the big men? We have to find that out. You need to find 6-8 guys, where?” said Dickel.

Yet, Dickel somehow likes what he sees in their current roster. Speaking about big-men, TNT was able to get the talents of Lervin Flores from the NorthPort Batang Pier.

“He is going to help, much like Dave Semerad. He has improved so much from a year ago. I think he and Lervin will be so much better and he will understand totally what we’ve got and what we are trying to do,” said Dickel.
