Catholic Church officers unveiled in a news content posted on the official website of the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) that they were said to be unsatisfied with the representation of the former DILG Undersecretary Secretary Mar Roxas as a “hero” over the onslaught of super typhoon Yolanda in Tacloban City several years ago.
Based on the short article published on CBCP’s website, an official of Caritas Philippines lashed out at a comic book that portrayed presidential candidate Mar Roxas as a “hero” during the height of typhoon Yolanda.
Father Edwin Garinguez, executive secretary of Caritas Philippines, named the campaign material as “shameful and unacceptable propaganda.”
“In conscience, I need to belie this hypocritical claim of Mar Roxas claiming to be a hero in the emergency response,” said Garinguez. He further added that “We need to bring truth and decency in our electoral process. A call that I dare to make to all candidates.”
Apart from Caritas Philippines, Father Jazz Siapco, Director of Lipa Archdiocesan Social Action Center, likewise belittled the comic book as “misleading” and simply designed to enhance a political agenda.
