Here are the live scores, updates, and results of the 2021 Premier Volleyball League Open Conference Semifinals Game 3 between the Chery Tiggo 7 Pro Crossovers and the Choco Mucho Flying Titans, scheduled on August 10, 2021, at 3:00 PM.
The Chery Tiggo Crossovers upset the Choco Mucho Flying Titans in straight sets thanks to Jaja Santiago’s heroics in Game 2 of their 2021 Premier Volleyball League Open Conference Semifinals on Monday at the PCV Socio-Civic and Cultural Center in Bacarra, Ilocos Norte.
In a 25-18, 25-22, 26-24 victory over the Flying Titans, Santiago scored the game’s final four points, tying the best-of-three series at one game apiece.
In a reversal of Game 1, the Crossovers pounded the Flying Titans from the service line and showed poise in the clutch in fending off Choco Mucho’s comeback attempts.
Santiago led the way for the Crossovers with 13 points on eight attacks, three aces, and two kill blocks. Dindin Santiago-Manabat led the team with 19 points on 16 attacks and three aces, and Mylene Paat added ten.
After a convincing victory in Set 1, the Crossovers appeared to be on autopilot in the second set, establishing a 13-5 lead. The Flying Titans, on the other side, responded, with Caitlyn Viray coming off the bench to provide a spark. Choco Mucho took a 16-15 lead thanks to Ponggay Gaston’s ace, and it was a back-and-forth struggle from there.
After a service fault by Santiago, the Flying Titans led 21-20, but they were unable to halt Santiago-Manabat, who scored back-to-back hits before Jasmine Nabor served an ace for a 24-20 score. Choco Mucho stayed in the game thanks to Gaston and Kat Tolentino’s kills, but Santiago-Manabat received some help from the net when her hit rolled to an empty spot, giving Chery Tiggo a two-set lead.
In a nail-biting third set, Santiago proved to be the difference. Chery Tiggo took a 23-20 lead on her quick hit, but three straight errors — a Paat service fault and back-to-back attack errors by the Santiago twins — knotted the game at 23.
Before Tolentino’s kill forced the game’s last deadlock, Santiago made up for her previous error with a blistering attack that put Chery Tiggo on match point, 24-23. Santiago was unstoppable by then, blazing another stroke from the middle before serving an ace, ensuring Chery Tiggo’s participation for at least one more day.
Tolentino was Choco Mucho’s lone double-digit scorer with 14 points. The Flying Titans were outscored 10 points by Chery Tiggo’s aces, and the Crossovers outattacked the Flying Titans 44-30.
