Here are the live scores, updates, and results of the 2021 Premier Volleyball League Open Conference Battle for Third Game 1 between the Choco Mucho Flying Titans and the Petro Gazz Angels, scheduled on August 11, 2021, at 2:00 PM.

Petro Gazz was relegated to a best-of-three battle for third against the third seeded Choco Mucho after a three-set loss to the defending champions Creamline Cool Smashers, 27-25, 25-22, 25-16.

Contrary to their first game meeting in the semifinals, the Arnold Laniog-coached squad had no answer to Cool Smashers’ super scorer Tots Carlos who squeezed in a game-high 21 points off 18 attacks, 2 aces, and a block in their Game 2 skirmish.

Ria Meneses and Ces Molina led the Petro Gazz with 9 and 8 points, respectively, as no other player scored in double figures.

Despite beginning all three sets, Myla Pablo, who led the team in scoring with 26 points in the previous game, was virtually invisible in this game of life and death with only 3 points.

Chery Tiggo Crossover’s most recent victim, the Flying Titans, will be on the other side of the court, having been defeated by the Santiago sisters’ squad, 25-16, 26-24, 25-23, and denied a finals appearance against its sister team, Creamline.

The Flying Titans couldn’t stop the barrage of attacks from the Santiago sisters who tallied 17 and 16 points apiece, thanks to Jasmine Nabor’s excellent playmaking in that crucial game.

After Caitlyn Viray stretched the lead to 24-22 in the second set, Choco Mucho appeared poised to tie the game at one set apiece.

After a Kim Gequillana service error and a set-ending Kat Tolentino attack error sandwiched two hits from each Santiago sister for a shocking 4-0 conclusion, the Titans shot themselves in the foot.

After that, Choco Mucho fell again, as a vital rotation error capped a late 4-0 run to give Chery Tiggo a 22-20 lead in the deciding third set.

Despite tying the game at 23 apiece, the Titans ultimately handed the Crossovers the final finals ticket when a Mylene Paat point was followed by a Choco Mucho four-touch error to put the game out of reach.

Tolentino led the Titans with 12 points, all on attacks, in another heartbreaking loss, while Maddie Madayag chipped in 11 points on 8 spikes and a game-high three blocks.

The last time this two teams played against each other, Choco Mucho fended off Petro Gazz in four sets, 25-20, 23-25, 25-21, 25-23.

Madayag had 14 points and six blocks in the win, while Ponggay Gaston also had 14.

Tolentino finished with 13 points and 20 excellent digs. Arocha had her finest game yet, but she was plagued by cramps near the end. Despite this, she had 13 points, with Bea De Leon adding ten.

Deanna Wong ended with 26 excellent sets and nine points. Denden Lazaro-Revilla, on the other hand, had 21 excellent digs and 13 excellent receptions.

Grethcel Soltones and Meneses led the Angels with 14 points each. Soltones also had 37 excellent receptions.
