Christian Standhardinger just made his first Vlog posted in Youtube and showcasing his journey to the PBA as he prepared his self to the talent-loaded 2017 PBA Rookie Draft held in Robinson’s Place Manila.
The vlog started in Hong Kong where Standhardinger is currently playing. He was hired by the Hong Kong Eastern Long Lions, one of the teams in the ASEAN Basketball League, his next stop after helping Gilas Pilipinas securing the Gold Medal in the Men’s Basketball in 2017 Southeast Asian Games.
While at the airport, Standhardinger introduced his agent named Bennet who helped him land a job as a basketball player especially during those times when he was low in demand. At present, indeed he is now one of the most sought talent, a 6’7 player who can’t only rebound but can also run and score.
After landing to Manila, Christian and Bennet tried some Filipino dish probably at their hotel and both of them appreciates the service of the crew.
The following day, he went straight to Robinson’s Place Manila where the PBA Rookie draft took place. Standhardinger can smell the passion of Pinoys in the game of basketball as the location were packed with hoops fanatics.
Before Commissioner Chito Narvasa called the first pick, Christian met several basketball players like his fellow aspirant Raymar Jose and Kiefer Ravena. Kiefer the son of Bong Ravena is also one of the top candidates to be drafted as number 1 pick. Ravena also gave his predictions for the draft and he scored 3 out of 5.
As everyone has expected, Standhardinger was drafted number one by San Miguel Beermen then he was followed by Kiefer Ravena who was drafted at number 2 by the NLEX Road Warriors.
The afterwards he show-off his San Miguel contract and asked June Mar Fajardo the reigning Most Valuable Player about playing with him.
“June Mar, so what do you think of playing with me?” Standhardinger asked. Fajardo simply answered him “help us win championships.”
As it’s now official, the front-court combination of Fajardo and Standhardinger in San Miguel is a bit scary for their opponent, at least on paper right now. We’ll still yet to see if they will have chemistry playing together inside the court.
After the draft Christian went directly back to Hong Kong to resume his commitment with the Eastern Long Lions. PBA fans will need to wait until the 2018 PBA Commissioner’s Cup to see Standhardinger wearing the red jersey of the San Miguel Beermen.
