Phoenix Petroleum Fuel Masters import Eugene Phelps exploded with 51 points and helped his team notch another victory against the NLEX Road Warriors, 123-97.
In the first half alone, Phelps already smell another 50-point performance to his PBA career as he reached 28 points and his team was on top, 71-33.
He capped it in the fourth after swishing a three-pointer in front of the defense of NLEX import Aaron Fuller.
In this conference, “El Destructor” already have two 50-point outings, one was against the Columbian Dyip where he is still wearing that Gucci headband.
Phoenix head coach Louie Alas is pleased with the result of their today’s game as they solidified their position in the top four of the standings.
“Big bounce-back game kasi ‘yung talo namin sa Ginebra one-possession game lang,” said Phoenix coach Louie Alas. “We’re back and I like our situation,” he added.
For NLEX head coach Yeng Guiao on the other hand, there were series of unfortunate events happen to his team.
First there was a dislocated index finger suffered by his import then there’s a Flagrant Foul Penalty 2 called on his bigman Denok Miranda and it’s an automatic ejection from the game.
Likewise, Larry Fonacier who was shooting great in their past two games and averaging 22 points on those outings was limited to only 10 points in a dismal 4-of-10 from the field.
NLEX is now in its two-game losing skid but still in a good position to qualify to the next round.
