Here are the live scores, updates, and results of the FIBA Asia Cup 2021 Qualifiers between the Gilas Pilipinas and Thailand, scheduled on November 30, 2020, at 9:00 PM.
Banking on the momentum brought by their dominant Game 1 win, 93-61, last Friday against a similar team, Gilas Pilipinas will try to end their two-game showdown with Thailand later tonight in the 2021 FIBA Asia Cup Qualifiers at the Khalifa Sports City in Manama, Bahrain.
Now holding a 2-0 win-loss card in Group A, tied with South Korea, the Jong Uichico-coached team eyes for a 3-0 record at the expense of a pro laden Thai squad.
Despite the team coming off an eight-month layoff because of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic and just two weeks of team practice before starting the November window of the FIBA Asia qualifiers, Gilas dismantled its Southeast Asian rivals.
With Gilas’ 27-3 rampage in the second quarter and a 24-point lead, 53-29, at the end of the first half, the Tyler Lamb-less Thailand squad could not return to the game and once again see themselves being defeated by the winningest basketball team in the Southeast Asian region.
The 6-foot-4 Dwight Ramos led all scorers with 20 points on a perfect 7-of-7 from the field, on top of 7 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals in less than 20 minutes of action.
Aside from Ramos, Juan Gomez de Liaño and Justin Baltazar were also instrumental in the win, scoring 12 points apiece. Similarly, Rey Suerte, Javi Gomez de Liano, Mike Nieto, and Issac Go played vital roles in the win, scoring 32 points collectively.
Gilas’ final 12-man lineup for later’s game is yet to be unveiled, howbeit, it is possible that Calvin Oftana, Jaydee Tungcab, and Allyn Bulanadi, who did not play last Friday, would see action today.
Meanwhile, for the team which now holds a 0-3 win-loss card after yet another setback at the hands of Indonesia, Nattakarn Muangboon and Chanatip Jakrawan are out to seek vengeance for the Thais.
The Philippines and Thailand are in Group A, together with Indonesia and Korea.
