The Philippines’ beloved basketball squad will be heading to Lebanon to represent the country for the upcoming 2017 FIBA Asia Cup.

The tournament will run from August 8 until August 20, 2017 and Nouhad Nawfal Stadium, Zouk Mosbeh will be its venue.

There will be a total of 16 teams coming from different parts of Asia and from Oceania (Australia and New Zealand).

All of these teams that participated in 2017 FIBA Asia Cup also qualify to the first round of the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup qualification for FIBA Asia and FIBA Oceania.

Gilas Pilipinas will be in the Group B bracket which composed of Iraq, China and Qatar. Immediately in their first game in the preliminary round, team Philippines will be tested against the power house team China.

Group winners will automatically move to quarterfinals round while teams finished second and third from its respective group will go to a playoff round and will be crossed over to other teams outside their bracket.
