The Barangay Ginebra San Miguel is scheduled for a head-to-head game against the Alaska Aces at 5:00 P.M. on August 26, 2017 live from Hoops Dome, Lapu-Lapu City.

The defending champion Gin Kings is currently at the third spot of the 2017 PBA Governors’ Cup standings and looking for a four-game winning streak while the Aces are hoping that the Cebuano crowd will be behind them to boost their chances on ending their losing skid.

After playing in Calasiao, Pangasinan, Ginebra is back on the road and this time it’ll be in Lapu-Lapu City. A city which is known as the territory of Alaska’s ace player Dondon Hontiveros.

Hontiveros came to popularity when he was wearing the Cebu Gems jersey of the now defunct MBA. Each time his Gems played in Cebu it was always jam packed and fans cheering for his name.

Those rare chants especially if you’re playing against Ginebra (which usually the crowd favorite) are needed by coach Alex Compton to help his players get extra motivation.

Alaska is currently at a franchise-high of 13-game losing skid but despite of the low winning success the former coach of the Aces still sees them as a scary team.

“Alaska is an incredibly scary team to play,” said Cone of the 5 p.m. match at the Hoops Dome. “They are not playing bad basketball. They’ve just been snake-bit and unusually unlucky.”

“Of their last 13 losses, they could have or should have won at least 10 of them,” Cone noted.

Cebuano fans will be more delighted as two Gilas boys are set to return to its respective ball-clubs.

Calvin Abueva is expected to be back with Alaska while Japeth Aguilar is on his way on wearing his Barangay Ginebra San Miguel jersey.
