The Barangay Ginebra San Miguel is scheduled for a head-to-head game against the Columbian Dyip at 7:00 P.M. on August 31, 2018 live from the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
After winning the 2018 PBA Commissioner’s Cup trophy, the Gin Kings will make its debut this conference and defend another crown while the Dyip are aiming to end its three-game losing skid.
Although still win-less this 2018 PBA Governors’ Cup, Columbian scoring leader Jerramy King still have high hopes for his squad and will try to make an upset against the heavily favored team in the league.
“It’s gonna be a tough challenge, but we’re up to it,” said King. “This team is hungry for a win. We’ll just have to keep on fighting,” he added.
Newly installed Columbian head coach Johnadel Cardel continue brewing a successful winning recipe as his current strategies doesn’t result to victories.
The entire cast and crew of the Barangay Ginebra will be back, well except Jervy Cruz one of their dependable perimeter shooting big-men.
Cruz is out due to a foot injury where he needs to undergo a surgery to remove bone spurs. The same issue he have during the start of the second conference.
Yet, the crowd favorite Barangay Ginebra will initiate their Governors’ Cup campaign with dominating lineup led by their comeback-import Justin Brownlee.
Likewise, the 2018 PBA Commissioner’s Cup Finals MVP Scottie Thompson will also be present and the rest of the regular starting lineup for coach Tim Cone.
