The Barangay Ginebra San Miguel is scheduled for a head-to-head game against the GlobalPort Batang Pier at 7:00 P.M. on July 6, 2018 live from the Cuneta Astrodome.
The Gin Kings are on a cruise control and aiming to sweep their remainder games in the 2018 PBA Commissioner’s Cup elimination round while the Batang Pier wanted to secure a ticket going to the Quarterfinals.
Started at 1-5 then suddenly the Barangay Ginebra San Miguel is on a roll with their four-game winning streak. That winning momentum came in when Justin Brownlee re-joined Ginebra and then the addition of Jeff Chan to Gin Kings lineup.
With Chan in tow, it gave Ginebra’s opponent scrambling in defense as the offense got stretched where big-men like Greg Slaughter and Japeth Aguilar have more room to operate inside.
The “Never-Say-Die” hoping to continue their streak and avoid the seventh and the eight spot where they will carry a twice-to-win disadvantge.
“As a team we have worked really hard to get back in the race after our 1-5 start. We’ve been in the playoff mode for weeks, yet our recovery is not complete,” said Ginebra coach Tim Cone.
“We still have the talented GlobalPort squad as a last hurdle before the playoffs begin. Pringle and company will be tough,” Cone also said.
Just like Ginebra, GlobalPort also wanted to maintain their winning momentum especially their streaky guard Stanley Pringle. “Stan-the-Man” will be coming-in fresh from his 50-point explosion against the Columbian Dyip.
Both teams are currently tied with the Magnolia Hotshots Pambansang Manok at the sixth spot. This will be the final game of Ginebra and GlobalPort this ongoing second conference.
