The Barangay Ginebra San Miguel is scheduled for a head-to-head game against the Kia Picanto at 7:00 P.M. on February 7, 2018 live from the Mall of Asia Arena.
The Gin Kings are currently lurking at the chaotic middle slot of the 2017-18 PBA Philippine Cup standings and needs to pick up more W to have a better position during the playoffs while the Picanto needs to sweep all of their remaining games to have a chance for a Quarterfinals ticket.
After they have conquered what seems to be impossible considering their injured laden lineup, Barangay Ginebra was able to beat the defending champion, the San Miguel Beermen. Not only that, they gave the Beermen their first loss this conference.
Most basketball fans especially the Ginebra faithfuls thought that they will make a back-to-back wins when they faced NLEX Road Warriors six days later. Greg Slaughter was finally back in that game and the “Never-Say-Die” team looks formidable once again.
Indeed that was the case during the first half as Ginebra lead piled up as much as 14 points but in the closing quarter, the Road Warriors stormed back and completed a Barangay Ginebra set back.
It has certainly been a struggle this conference—we’ve been kind of battling ourselves—but we will smooth ourselves out and be there at the end. #NSD

After a surprise win in their wild game against the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters, Kia got slowed once again and absorbed back-to-back losses.
They were whipped heavily by the Meralco Bolts (76-105) but shown competitiveness versus the Talk ‘N Text KaTropa (85-90) where they orchestrated a late quarter run but unable to complete a comeback.
Although Kia is at the very bottom of the standings, the gates for the second round still wide open for them. All they have to do is to win all of their remaining games.
