The Barangay Ginebra San Miguel is scheduled for a best-of-three quarterfinals match against the Magnolia Hotshots Pambansang Manok. Game 3 is at 7:00 P.M. on April 10, 2019 live from the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
The “Manila Clasico” is extended and now reaches to its All-Filipino quarterfinals finale when the 2019 PBA Philippine Cup resumes this evening at the Big Dome.
Magnolia has prove once again that “height is not really might” in the world of basketball as they beat Ginbera in a convincing score 106-77.
The twin towers of Ginebra led by Greg Slaughter and Japeth Aguilar were ineffective and that Game 2 encounter.
Aguilar and Slaughter only had a combined 10 points and 9 rebounds output.
Slaughter thought that the inability of their shooters to make points from outside made difficult for them to operate in the post.
“We must be able to hit some outside shots to open things up,” said Greg Slaughter.
“We just got to get more of our teammates involved, try to set some people up, get some outside shots going so we could open up the inside.”
For Gin Kings head coach Tim Cone, he sees that Magnolia outplayed them in all aspects of the game but he will make sure that on tonight’s game it won’t happen again.
“We were just ripped apart by Magnolia, They were ready and we were absolutely not. They outhustled us, outplayed us and outcoaches us,” Cone said. “I should have had our guys ready to play. But we’ll be ready for Game 3.”
For Magnolia on the other hand, head coach Chito Victolero wanted the same performance from his team and complete another playoffs upset against Barangay Ginebra.
“Kapag nadala namin ang parehong effort at desire na ipinakita namin sa Game Two, maganda ang chance namin,” said Victolero.
