The Barangay Ginebra San Miguel is scheduled for a head-to-head game against the Magnolia Hotshots Pambansang Manok at 5:15 P.M. on December 25, 2017 live from the Philippine Arena.
It’s “Manila Clasico” (or Christmas Clasico) once again, one of the best offering of the PBA to its fans and just like last year it will be played in the behemoth stadium of the Philippine Arena.
The main difference this year edition is the inclusion of 2017 PBA Governors’ Cup Best Player of the Conference Greg Slaughter to Ginebra’s lineup.
Last 2016-17 Philippine Cup, Slaughter was sidelined due to an injury which also kept him the majority of the 41st PBA season. Now that he is back in the “Never-Say-Die” roster it will only give more problems to their opponent.
Apart from the “Gregzilla”, Ginebra will still have its championship core that outlasted the Meralco Bolts during the 2017 PBA Governors’ Cup Finals. Names like Japeth Aguila, Joe Devance, Scottie Thompson, LA Tenorio, Sol Mercado and Kevin Ferrer will all be there plus they have added a rookie who is known as a streak shooter and that is Jett Manuel.
This adds concerns to Magnolia Hotshots chief bench tactician coach Chito Victolero who is targeting a back-to-back victories.
“We have to deal with Greg Slaughter and Japeth Aguilar inasmuch as we have to handle well LA Tenorio, Sol Mercado and Scottie Thompson who are all efficient operators at the backcourt,” said Victolero.
Despite of Ginebra’s obvious matchup advantage, Victolero will depend to team’s chemistry to achieve their goal in their 5:15 P.M. schedule.
“We’re preparing for the game positive and with great optimism. We’ll prepare to have the chemistry and teamwork to overcome their roster power advantage,” said Victolero.
Paul Lee who was reported having an injury in their previous game against Alaska dropped a game-high of 30 points and shooting sharp from beyond the three-point territory.
His scoring abilities will be expected again in front of the huge crowd but the guards of Ginebra are definitely are now in the lookout.
