The Barangay Ginebra San Miguel is scheduled for a head-to-head quarterfinals Game 2 against the Meralco Bolts at 4:30 P.M. on July 11, 2018 live from the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
The Gin Kings are looking to close their quarterfinals match and move to the semis while the Bolts wanted to push the series to a do-or-die game this coming Friday.
It was an exciting and full of defensive stops when these two teams clashed during their Game 1 match. Eleven deadlocks and nine lead changes that’s how Ginebra went went through in order to secure their first victory in their quarterfinals best-of-three series.
Justin Bronwlee as usual brings his A-game as he dropped 25 points on 10-of-26 shooting from the field. However, Ginebra coach Tim Cone sees it that his dependable import was having an off-night performance.
“Justin (Brownlee) was a little rusty today and give Meralco the credit. He put up numbers but he’s a volume shooter tonight,” Cone also said.
For the Meralco Bolts, Arinze Onuaku was locked down as he was only limited to 12 points behind the defense of Joe Devance, Greg Slaughter and Japeth Aguilar. Despite of that, Onuaku still consistent in his rebounding contribution as he logged 18 boards.
Coach Tim Cone is expected that the Bolts foreign hire will go out more aggressive today in Game 2 inorder to even the series to 1-1.
“I expect to see lot more of Arinze in Game Two. He’ll be a bigger presence in the next game,” said Cone.
