The Barangay Ginebra San Miguel is scheduled for a head-to-head game against the NLEX Road Warriors at 5:00 P.M. on February 3, 2018 live from the Cuneta Astrodome.
All of the sudden, the Road Warriors are in the world of trouble and now staring to their four-game losing skid while the Gin Kings are looking for a back-to-back wins when 2017-18 PBA Philippine Cup resumes this afternoon.
After getting down by as much as 16-point in the first half, the “Never-Say-Die” attitude of Ginebra was in full throttle last Sunday. Coach Tim Cone found an unlikely hero from his bench which not only helped them in scoring but also slowed down June Mar Fajardo.
And that guy is Raymond Aguilar.
“(It’s a) big game for us to see if we can create some much needed momentum this conference. It’s important for us not to relax after beating San Miguel Beer. We have to keep our energy and intensity up,” said Ginebra coach Tim Cone.
The other good news to all Barangay Ginebra faithfuls is the return of Greg Slaughter who has now clearance to play after he suffered a hamstring injury.
“Greg will return to the lineup with a minute restriction as he continues to work himself back to shape,” said Cone.
After having a great start this All-Filipino conference, NLEX rolled down hill and went setback after setback.
As the second half of the eliminations round has arrived, coach Yeng Guiao needs to collect more wins to qualify to the next round. Beating Ginebra is a must for them to keep their squad in contention.
“We know we will need to do a lot more than game adjustments to beat Ginebra after their big win against San Miguel,” said NLEX coach Yeng Guiao.
The Road Warriors needs more scoring contributions apart from their prized rookie Kiefer Ravena. Coach Yeng Guaio’s basketball system is focused on balanced offense, this is the strategy which makes him successful and even captured multiple championship rings.
“We’ve been struggling with our offense lately but I’ve seen a lot of determination from the guys to get back our rhythm in the last few days,” Guiao also said. “We approach our game versus Ginebra with a positive attitude because of the effort I’ve seen in our preparations.”
