The main event of the opening day of PBA inside the bubble is just getting massive as the Gin Kings will try to tame the rampaging Road Warriors in Angeles City.
The darling of the league for the first time will play without its sixth man and that’s its roaring fans that usually shook the roof of the gymnasium wherever they go.
Yet, multi-awarded head coach Tim Cone is optimistic that his squad will continue to deliver their A-Game. The only thing that somehow bothers him is the conditioning of his troops particularly Japeth Aguilar and LA Tenorio.
Both mentioned Gin Kings players joined Ginebra just this week.
“Just the day before the game is the time that we’re getting LA and Japeth back into this lineup so we don’t know if we’ll get contributions from them in our first game,” Cone pointed out.
“But we certainly have guys who can step in and fill the void so that’s who we’ll go with,” added Cone.
The reigning league’s Iron Man, LA Tenorio admitted that he’s out of shape after undergoing an appendectomy two weeks ago.
Tenorio played 641 straight games until the COVID-19 strike early this year and puts PBA to call league suspension.
For the Road Warriors, on the other hand, seems like conditioning isn’t a problem especially for their ace guard Kiefer Ravena who appeared gone bulkier.
Likewise, NLEX will welcome their other key piece in the name of Kevin Alas who got sidelined early in the 44th season due to an injury.
The deadly backcourt duo of coach Yeng Guiao is in full force once again however they will miss the services of JP Erram who transferred to their sister team, the TNT Tropang Giga.
“Just excited to play our first game in seven months,” said NLEX coach Yeng Guiao.
“Preparation time has been short but we’ll have to rely on our residual chemistry from our time together as a team,” he added.
