The Gin Kings continued its supremacy against the Batang Pier as they made back-to-back victories and took a series 2-1 lead. One more win and Ginebra back in the Governors’ Cup Finals yet NorthPort is expected to be in their all-out-war tonight at the Big Dome.

Playing has a much deeper bench compared to their opponent is what coach Tim Cone possesses during the just concluded 30th Southeast Asian Games.

It appears that in their semi-finals round versus the Batang Pier, that picture is somewhat similar for the veteran head coach.

His Gin Kings squad is playing against a shorthanded Batang Pier that lost several of its key players because of their respective injuries.

The final score for the past two games is also identified during the Gilas Pilipinas gold medal campaign in the 2019 SEA Games.

Ginebra is just a victory away for them to return to the biggest stage of the Governors’ Cup where they dominated during 2016 and 2017.

“It’s nice to have the head start, get ahead in the series and dictate the series. That’s always the goal, force the other team to make the adjustments,” said Cone.

For NorthPort on the other hand, coach Pido Jarencio hopes that his wards led by his three-headed monster (Standhardinger, Qualls, and Anthony) had enough time to refuel for another tough battle.

Despite their current series score (1-2) disadvantage, the Batang Pier already proved that they know how to make a comeback.

All they need to do now is to recall their accomplishments during the elimination round and how they reached the semis by eliminating the tournament’s number one seeded, the NLEX Road Warriors.
