The Barangay Ginebra San Miguel is scheduled for a head-to-head game against the Phoenix Petroleum Fuel Masters at 7:00 P.M. on August 30, 2017 live from Mall of Asia Arena.

The defending champion Gin Kings will attempt to join the Meralco Bolts at the top of the 2017 PBA Governors’ Cup Standings while the Fuel Masters need to know how to win again to keep its playoffs hopes alive.

In the next two weeks, fan favorite Ginebra will be busy and keeping its winning momentum is what coach Tim Cone wanted to retain. This stretch can certainly make or break the chances of the “Never-Say-Die” back to the Finals.

“We want to keep our momentum going, so it’s a big game for us,” he said.

“Including our Cebu game, we basically have five games in two weeks, so this is an important stretch for us.”

After its promising import Eugene Phelps got injured, Phoenix winning ways seems went sidelined as well. Coach Ariel Vanguardia and the rest of the Fuel Masters are now looking to a six-game losing skid.

“Despite their record, they seem to be a team on the rise,” said Cone of Phoenix, which is coming off a 110-103 loss to TnT Katropa last Friday.

“We’ve had little success with Phoenix over the last couple of conference, and they’ve done a great job of improving their talent through the year with key trades,” noted the Ginebra coach.

Brandon Brown’s 49 points and 19 rebounds effort was not enough to end the losing streak for Phoenix in their last outing.

After got traded and scored an average of 20.5 points in his first two games as a Fuel Masters, Jeff Chan struggled against Talk ‘N Text where he only scored 5 points.

It was also the day when Matthew Wright returned back with his PBA mother-team after his stint with the Gilas Pilipinas in 2017 FIBA Asia Cup.
