The Barangay Ginebra San Miguel is scheduled for a best-of-five semi-finals Game 4 against the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters at 7:00 P.M. on July 23, 2018 live from the Mall of Asia Arena.
The Elasto Painters will be seeking a victory that will extend their series and push it to sudden death while the Gin Kings are eager to meet the San Miguel Beermen in the 2018 PBA Commissioner’s Cup Finals.
The Gin Kings were so lucky that they have built an early 25-point lead in the first half, enough for them to secure the win in Game 3.
Coach Tim Cone is so aware of that scenario, his troops played superb defense in the first half but unable to find their shooting groove in the next following half.
“Our defense was tremendous in that first half, just absolutely tremendous,” noted Cone. “Our offense was equally not as tremendous in the second half,” said Cone.
James Yap almost had a shot that could bring the game into overtime but unfortunately his three-point bomb unable to find the bottom of the net.
If that game was sent to extra period, it would be an advantage for Rain or Shine as they’re able to win all of their overtime games this conference. In short, they’re more efficient in that period and where the score is usually close.
Justin Brownlee shown his scoring prowess in Game 3 where he scored 44 points along with his 15 rebounds and five steals. RoS import Reggie Johnson was limited to 13 points as he focused himself on controlling the boards and registered 22 rebounds.
“When you put a sunny face into it, yeah, we’re a win away,” offered Cone. “But obviously we’re coming away from this game with a lot of concerns.”
