The Barangay Ginebra San Miguel is scheduled for a head-to-head Game 1 Quarterfinals match against the San Miguel Beermen at 6:45 P.M. on November 24, 2019 live from Smart Araneta Coliseum in Cubao, Quezon City.

The Beermen may have now sorted out some internal team disputes and have their focus on what is at stake while the Gin Kings will try to spoil another grand slam run of their sister-team when the 2019 PBA Governors’ Cup continues at the Big Dome tonight.

One of the ways for San Miguel to restore order in their squad after the fracas the team went through, disciplinary action was implemented.

That’s giving an indefinite suspension to Arwin Santos, Kelly Nabong and Ronald Tubid plus sending back their import, Dez Wells home.

“We’re sticking with the management decision to hold to a higher standard of professionalism and sportsmanship at all times. So ganon pa rin, we still lack the personnel because of the indefinite suspension but the team is not demoralized. Laban pa rin,” said Beermen team manager Gie Abanilla.

The Beermen will also stick with John Holland as their foreign reinforcement at least this quarterfinals round.

Holland gave a glimpse of what he can do during their last game versus the TNT KaTropa where he made a decent production with 25 markers and 11 boards. Tonight he will be tested once again by Justin Brownlee.

For Barangay Ginebra, though their first-round opponent in the playoffs is having an incomplete roster, yet, coach Tim Cone isn’t discounting what SMB can do. They still have their five-time MVP, June Mar Fajardo.

“We certainly would have chosen a different opponent for the quarters if it was within our power, but San Miguel it is,” said Cone.

“Control what you can control, and that is preparing ourselves the best we can. It’s always such a great challenge going against them. Both teams are extremely motivated. It should be a great fight,” Cone added.
