The Barangay Ginebra San Miguel is scheduled for a head-to-head Quarterfinals game against the San Miguel Beermen at 7:00 P.M. on September 27, 2017 live from the Mall of Asia Arena.
The number four seeded Gin Kings will try to overcome their opponent using their twice-to-beat advantage while the fifth seeded Beermen will push their chances going to the semi-final round.
Probably the most anticipated match-up this 2017 PBA Governors’ Cup Playoffs. Ginebra will be defending their title while San Miguel will try to capture the elusive Grand Slam.
Both in the 2016-17 Philippine Cup and the 2017 Commissioner’s Cup, the Beermen finished first after the eliminations round.
However, in the third conference, they’re on the opposite end as they need to win twice to beat their opponent.
“I’ve always had confidence with my team. We’re very confident going in,” said Commissioner’s Cup Best Player of the Conference Chris Ross.
“There’s never any pressure; this is just basketball. All of us are playing basketball for a long time. We’ve all been in this situations and there’s never been any pressure,” Ross added.
Last All-Filipino conference, Ginebra and San Miguel fought for the trophy and SMB won it in five games. In this conference, the Beermen drew first blood where they led as much as 16 points.
It was also timely that SMB introduced a new import and helped them to secure a win. June Mar Fajardo also won the match-up against Greg Slaughter.
