The Barangay Ginebra San Miguel is scheduled for a head-to-head game against the Star Hotshots at 6:45 P.M. on September 3, 2017 live from Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The most awaited “Manila Classico” has arrived this 2017 PBA Governors’ Cup. The winner of the match will be awarded and will sit at the top of the standings while the loser will endanger its chances to join the top-four teams.

After losing to Meralco Bolts in their third conference opening salvo, Ginebra is currently on a role and playing like a true defending champion.

With the return of Greg Slaughter in the lineup after got sidelined due to injury, the “Never-Say-Die” looks formidable and their five game winning streak is a testament to that.

Also, as Gilas international campaigns are put in rest for now, Japeth Aguilar is now more focused playing with his mother team.

The 6:30 PM match will be a battle of size versus speed. The familiar triangle-offense of coach Tim Cone will be put into a test by coach Chito Victolero who is a defensive minded bench tactician.

“There’s always a buzz in the air at practice when we’re preparing for the Manila Classico. It’s an exciting time. It’s especially true now since both teams are on equal footing and playing good basketball,” said Ginebra coach Tim Cone.

Star Hotshots are coming off from a defeat against Rain or Shine Elasto Painters after its hot start of four-game winning streak.

Malcolm Hill’s 26 points and 20 rebounds weren’t enough to topple the re-energized RoS as Raymond Almazan and Gabe Norwood are now back after its Gilas stint in Lebanon.

Also, the scheduled match this evening will mark as the first game of Ginebra after they have traded Chris Ellis and Dave Marcelo to Blackwater Elite.

Only Raymond Aguilar is ready to suit up his new Ginebra jersey as Art dela Cruz still nursing his injury.
