The Barangay Ginebra San Miguel is scheduled for a head-to-head Semi-Finals game against the Talk ‘N Text (TNT) KaTropa Texters at 7:00 P.M. on October 4, 2017 live from the Batangas City Coliseum, Batangas.

Crowd favorite Gin Kings are looking for a back-to-back wins and take a commanding 2-0 series lead while KaTropa wants a bounce back after a blowout loss in Game 1.

Coach Tim and his squad has found a way to slow down the Talk ‘N Text’s fast paced style of game in their series game opener last Monday and it resulted to a lopsided win.

However, the coach who won two grand slams in his career sees it that it can give his opponent positive motivation.

“In one way we’re happy we played like this and beat them the way we did,” added Cone. “On the other hand, we just feel so bad giving them a whole bunch of motivation going to Game Two. There’s always a positive and a negative to blowouts in a series.”

“Game Two is gonna be pretty exciting and really tight. That’s what usually follows,” said Cone following the opener played out at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Scottie Thompson and Justin Brownlee led the Gin Kings defense as they combined a total of seven steals. Overall, the entire Ginebra squad forced TNT to commit 22 turnovers which they converted to 23 points.

Also, Barangay Ginebra’s bench guys responded well as they outscored their opponent 54-30. Jervy Cruz scored 10 points while Mark Caguioa added 13 points in just 12:01 minutes of playing time.

Greg Slaughter who only contributed 4 points in their elimination match against KaTropa logged 16 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in Game 1. He also gave TNT problems operating inside the paint.

Coach Nash Racela thought that probably fatigue is the main factor of their loss versus Ginebra.

“The difference is their last game was on Wednesday, our last game was Friday. So it was really hard to prepare for this game,” said Racela. “We had little window to rest and I think we had two practices before the game. I think that was crucial.”
