The Barangay Ginebra San Miguel is scheduled for a head-to-head game against the Talk ‘N Text (TNT) KaTropa Texters at 5:15 P.M. on September 23, 2017 live from the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Both teams are looking to solidify as well as protecting their current standings at the top four of the 2017 PBA Governors’ Cup standings.
Tonight’s game will be potential semi-finals matchup or even a preview of the upcoming 2017 PBA Governors’ Cup Finals.
Few weeks ago, the KaTropa have traded one of their ace players in exchange for draft picks and much younger players. That move of the KaTropa gave more minutes to their young forwards like Mo Tautuaa and Troy Rosario.
So far, that player movement gave consistent wins for coach Nash Racela as they now enjoyed a three-game winning streak.
For coach Tim Cone on the other hand, despite of winning eight games this third conference and currently at the top of the standings. Barangay Ginebra squad still feel that they’re in a “must win” situation.
“It’s turning out to be a must-win for us if we want to advance to the Top Four. So that makes this game crucial,” said Ginebra coach Tim Cone. “Last game before the playoffs – it’s time for us to put our best foot forward,” said Tim Cone.
The “Never-Say-Die” team will surely unleash their big-men lineup led by Greg Slaughter, Joe Devance and Japeth Aguilar not to mention their mastery of the triangle offense.
However, that combination maybe altered if it can’t produce good results for the crowd favorite ball-club as coach Tim Cone is expecting that the opponent will counter them with speed and quickness.
“TNT’s speed and quickness is always a tough matchup for us, so we’ll have to find ways to slow them down,” said Cone.
