It’s the Game 1 of the Gin Kings and the KaTropa tonight at the Big Dome. Both squads will try to snag their series opener victory to set their momentum.
Prior to the start of the quarterfinals round, Talk ‘N Text seems to be unbeatable. One of the key reasons is their super import Terrence Jones.
Yet, although they already got eliminated for title contention but coach Alex Compton and his Alaska Aces gave Ginebra head coach Tim Cone a hint of how to stop the rampaging KaTropa.
“Alaska was the first team to expose their weakness but up to that point, they’ve been pretty much unbeatable,” said Cone.
In their playoffs opener, TNT got humiliated by an eighth-seeded by beating them with a 36-point blowout.
“We did this together as a team. Everybody was a little panic after that first loss. And we just have to believe in ourselves and come together,” said Jones.
For the Barangay Ginebra, they made sure that this time around Magnolia Hotshots won’t be a hindrance in their road back to the PBA Finals.
For two straight conferences which date back in the 2018 PBA Governors’ Cup, the Pambansang Manok eliminated the Gin Kings.
“Magnolia, that’s a really good team, they push you to the limit, they’re very physical,” said Ginebra’s import Justin Brownlee. “They tested us and tonight we came out, answered their test and passed.”
