The GlobalPort Batang Pier is scheduled for a head-to-head game against the Blackwater Elite at 4:30 P.M. on September 17, 2017 live from Ynares Center-Antipolo.

Both the Elite and the Batang Pier are making its own way to qualify to the 2017 PBA Governors’ Cup Quarterfinals round. Similarly, these two teams are coming off from a defeat and seeking for a bounce back.

Blackwater is currently at the eight spot good enough to proceed to the next round of the tournament. However, the elimination round still isn’t over and still many things can happen before the final playoff picture will take place.

Coach Leo Isaac understands the urgency of getting one more win and that’s his focus before entering to their 4:30 PM match.

“We will go for a win in our game against GlobalPort for an outright entry to the quarterfinals,” said Isaac.

NBA veteran Henry Walker who provides strong leadership in the Elite’s squad just came short on beating the defending champions, the Barangay Ginebra San Miguel in their last outing where they led early only to bow down at the end of the ball-game.

“We went out there and tried to hit them with the knockout punch early,” noted Walker, who finished with 26 points anchored on six triples, 17 boards, four assists, three steals and one block.

“They got up, they hit us back and we hit them back. It was a good match until eight minutes left in the fourth quarter. Their championship pedigree just came out.”

Coach Leo Isaac will also parade his new player acquisition in the name of Allein Maliksi. Maliksi was traded earlier by Star Hotshots along with Chris Javier in exchange for Kyle Pascual and Bam Gamalinda.

Even with the return of Stanley Pringle in GlobalPort lineup still isn’t enough to end Batang Pier’s losing skid. To make the situation worse, Pringle only contributed five points against Star Hotshots last Wednesday.

Just like their afternoon’s opponent, coach Franz Pumaren squad is in a must win situation.

“We don’t have to be a scientist to figure that out,” said GlobalPort coach Franz Pumaren of the Blackwater game. “It’s a must win for us.”
