The GlobalPort Batang Pier is scheduled for a head-to-head game against the NLEX Road Warriors at 4:30 P.M. on September 3, 2017 live from Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The Road Warriors have now secured a playoff spot for the first time this 2016-17 PBA season and winning another one will give them a better chance of having a twice-to-beat advantage when Quarterfinals round arrives.

Batang Pier on the other hand are looking to make back-to-back wins and hoping to join the upper teams of the 2017 PBA Governors’ Cup standings.

After being a punching bag of other teams in the past two conferences, NLEX is now one of the serious championship contenders this conference.

They prove that after they have beaten the San Miguel Beermen in their previous outing. An opponent which owns both the Philippine and Commissioner’s Cup trophies.

Before coach Yeng Guaio and the rest of his squad achieve being in the top-four teams at the end of the elimination round, they need to face the “Slash Brothers” along with their import who also played in a professional football squad.

“Pringle and Romeo are the usual suspects, but we still have to figure out how to defend their import,” stated Guiao.

“If we defend like we did SMB we have a chance. But anything else would be disastrous for us. If we want a top four finish this game is a must-win for us.”

For coach Franz Pumaren, maintaining their momentum is what they’re currently focusing on.

In their last game, Batang Pier defeated the full force roster of Talk ‘N Text KaTropa Texters and the 39 points explosion of Glen Rice Jr.

“Let’s see if we can sustain this on Sunday,” said Pumaren.

“Like I’ve been telling the players each game is very important. I think ’til the very end every game will have a bearing… because it’s all locked in the middle,” added Pumaren.

“The top teams are two, three games ahead, but it’s gonna be locked down in the middle part, all wanting to be part of the top four.”
