Barangay Ginebra San Miguel head coach Tim Cone revealed the reason why Greg Slaughter sat out during their game versus the TNT KaTropa yesterday evening.
Many of the PBA fans particularly the Gin Kings supporters wondered why “GregZilla” got benched by coach Cone.
“We are still unsure how long Greg will be out,” said Cone. “He dislocated his thumb. We are hoping it’s a few days but we can’t really tell. We didn’t see any ligament damage in the MRI or any broken bones but there was a clear dislocation. You could see his finger was dangling when he got hit during practice.”
Slaughter’s injury could also put him out of the Gilas Pilipinas 15-man pool for the 30th Southeast Asian Games which will start on November 30.
“We are hoping within a week, he can come back but you’ll never know. It could be longer. We had cases where those kind of thumb injuries can last a month or two. We will see. Hopefully, he will be available for the national team. I hate to lose another guy in the national team,” said Cone.
