Henry Walker Delivers A Victory For Blackwater

Walker who was brought in by the Elite few days ago in replacement for Jarrid Famous delivered what is expected from him, leadership and the ability to deliver points when the game is on the line. He only registered 11 points, eight rebounds and four assists but those struggling performance can be easily forgotten in exchange for his winning slam.

Blackwater used the third quarter to mount a nine-point lead behind the hot shooting and great plays showcased by the newly acquired guard Paul Zamar. The former Thailand Mono Vampire player gave coach Bong Ramos eight points, 3 assists and 2 steals from the bench.

Magnolia got outscored at the beginning of the first half, 13-29 and committed several turnovers which in turn took advantage by their opponent.

Early Most Improved Player candidate Poy Erram led Blackwater with his 19 points and 15 rebounds. Since the game against NLEX Road Warriors, Erram was seen emotional because of his deep desire to win. Erram was named as the Bida Player of the Game.

The adjustment period of Curtis Kelly on the system of coach Chito Victolero continued today and still struggling to find his groove. Kelly who is the replacement of Vernon Macklin only logged 12 points and nine rebounds with six turnovers. Kelly made a bad decision in that last play of Blackwater, instead of guarding Walker he decided to move up and tried to trap John Pinto.

Then Pinto found the open Walker who is running and moving towards the basket. Without hesitation, the Elite import drove strong to the basket and then the rest was history.

Henry Walker Winning Slam

“Ang sabi ko kay Walker since tumatrap he should slide, slide to the elbow and take the ball there,” said Blackwater coach Bong Ramos. “Then what happen is the same play, nagkagulo mas na open lang sa labas si Walker, nagkaroon ng open sa gitna,” he added.

After that defeat, Magnolia absorbed its two game losing skid and now having a win-loss record of 3-3. Coach Victolero starting to have same import trouble early this conference same thing happen to his fellow coaches working under the SMB franchise.
