The team Iran is scheduled for a head-to-head game against the team Lebanon at 2:00 A.M. on August 17, 2017 (PHI time) in Zouk Mosbeh, Lebanon.
The 2017 FIBA Asia Cup Quarterfinals round starts today and for its second treat it will be the host country Lebanon and Iran.
In the past five FIBA Asia Cup tournaments, Iran won the championship trophy three times. It all started back in 2007 when a man named Hamed Haddadi surprised the entire Asian basketball with his ability to play hoops.
Before it’s all about Philippines, China, Japan and South Korea if you say Asian basketball but after Iran emerged, the basketball scene for FIBA Asia now have mix of flavors.
Iran will attempt to be the king of basketball in Asia once more, however, they need to pass team Lebanon along with its mammoth crowd in their tonight’s schedule.
Iran will also try to avoid an early exit similar with what took place back in 2011 FIBA Asia Championship which was held in Wuhan, China.
The Iranians got eliminated in the Quarterfinals round versus team Jordan which also beat Gilas Pilipinas in the semi-finals.
For Lebanese squad on the other hand, they will attempt to defend the land and most likely Fadi El Khatib is ready for the call.
El Khatib at the age of 37 doesn’t show any signs of slowing down. In Lebanon’s Quarterfinals qualifier round against Chinese Taipei, he dropped 30 points along with his seven rebounds.
Apart from him, the Lebanese basketball squad will expect more from its versatile young point guard Wael Arakaji.
The 22-years-old Arakaji averaged 14.5 points, 4.3 rebounds and 3.8 assists in Lebanon’s four outings.
