Jayjay Helterbrand Joins MPBL, Will Suit Up For Imus Bandera

Former Barangay Ginebra San Miguel guard Jayjay Helterbrand has signed a contract to play with Imus Bandera in MPBL.

This news was confirmed after the 2009 PBA Most Valuable Player posted a picture of him together with the Bandera team officials on his official instagram account.

“ITS OFFICIAL!!!! Thank you @samv3rzosa and Boss Bj for allowing me to be a part of Imus Bandera Khaleb Shawarma team of the MPBL!! I feel excited to be lacing it up again competively and to be doing what I love! Thank you also to @mannypacquiao for creating this league for our home grown players! Please support my new team and the MPBL. God bless!”

“We’re happy to have finally signed Jayjay Helterbrand into our roster. His overall experience, basketball IQ, and leadership would definitely provide a huge boost for our bid in the upcoming season,” said Imus Bandera-Khaleb Shawarma/GLC team manager Lou Abad.

Helterbrand is already 42-years-old, he may no longer have that shifty speed which made him popular as the other half of the famous “Fast and the Furious” but he can also bring the “Never-Say-Die” spirit in Imus squad and perhaps even the team NSD fans.

The 5-foot-11 has retired from the PBA after the 2017 Governors’ Cup where he won his last championship trophy with the Barangay Ginebra San Miguel.

Though already retired from the first professional basketball league in Asia, Helterbrand continue to play several pick-up and charity games like the PBA Legends 2019.
