The ARQ Builders Lapu-Lapu City Heroes is scheduled for a head-to-head game against the Tubigon Bohol Mariners at 7:00 PM on April 21, 2021, live from the Alacantara Big Dome, Cebu.
The Mariners are still seeking their first win in the 2021 Super VisMin Cup and hoping that tonight will be a special night for them while the Heroes wanted a quick bounce back and will try to prevent a two-game slide when the #atonibai action continues in the Alacantara Big Dome.
Tubigon losing slide is still ongoing and their most recent defeat was against the hands of the Dumaguete Warriors last April 16.
The Mariners had a decent second and third quarter in their last outing yet the first and the second quarters matter the most where they allowed their opponent to gain at least eight more points.
Looking at the stat sheet, Tubigon Bohol almost matched or even surpass their opponent in several categories, however, the eye-popping score that the Mariners needs to improve is the contribution of their second unit.
During that game versus team Dumaguete, Tubigon’s bench points were only five points while 20 for the other team.
Joseph Marquez and Abubakar Dajijul each scored 23 points while Wade Cabizares and Narciso Llagas Jr. added 12 and 10 markers respectively.
On the other hand, team Lapu-Lapu absorbed their first defeat in the tournament probably due to several of their wards were not around due to the league’s imposed suspension.
Yet, in that game, the Heroes had their usual first-quarter run where they score more than eight points versus the KCS Mandaue Computer Specialist however, their opponent was also quick to make an adjustment and controlled the entire match.
Clearly, the lack of key personnel contributed to the defeat of the Heroes. The battle in bench scoring is one of the categories where they fell short. Lapu-Lapu’s second unit only made 22 points against Mandaue’s 37.
Vincent Minguito led the team Lapu-Lapu City attack with his 16 points and 13 rebounds while teammate Rin Berame had his own double-double version where he tallied 12 markers and 10 boards. Seven of those Berame’s rebounds came from the offensive end which contributed to their 15 second-chance points.
