Metro Manila and other parts in Laguna province and in Cebu City will be under the modified enhanced community quarantine starting from May 16 until May 30 as one of the government ways to slowly open the economy amidst COVID-19 pandemic.
According to the Inter-Agency Taskforce for Managing Emerging Infectious Diseases, areas mentioned above are still considered ‘high risk’ and it’s better to implement strict quarantine protocols while opening up the economy.
The enhanced community quarantine is the most strict quarantine protocols implemented by the government wherein public transportation, mass gatherings, and businesses considered as ‘non-essential’ got suspended due to the threat of the novel coronavirus.
“Ang modified po na ECQ is ECQ kaya lang may ilang industriya na bubuksan hanggang 50 porsyento at mayroon pa rin ilang zona, mga barangay, o grupo ng mga barangay na mananatili pa rin sa ECQ,” said presidential spokesperson Harry Roque.
