The Magnolia Hotshots Pambansang Manok is scheduled for a head-to-head game against the Blackwater Elite at 4:30 P.M. on February 2, 2018 live from the Mall of Asia Arena.
Currently owns a four-game winning streak, the Hotshots are looking to make it five in a row but the Elite maybe fueled by a new motivation and stop their three-game losing skid.
It will mark as the first time that Allein Maliksi will battle against its former team, the Magnolia Hotshots (earlier known as the Star Hotshots) after he got traded at the later part of the 2017 PBA Governors’ Cup.
Maliksi along with Chris Javier were were shipped to Blackwater Elite in exchange for Bambam Gamalinda and Kyle Pascual.
With their three-game losing streak, coach Leo Isaac is so determined to beat Magnolia in order to keep his team in contention after a stellar start this All-Filipino conference.
“We are setting our minds not just to play good basketball versus Magnolia Ang Pambansang Manok but we are setting our minds on beating them tomorrow,” stated Elite coach Leo Isaac.
After got beaten by Barangay Ginebra San Miguel during the rematch of the “Manila Clasico” at the Philippine Arena in last year’s PBA Christmas Day special games, Magnolia went on fire and won its next four games.
However, that winning streak might be in peril as Paul Lee tonight’s appearance inside the basketball court is questionable. Lee sprained his ankle after he landed hard fighting for a rebound.
On the bright side, after the exit of Lee versus Talk ‘N Text KaTropa Texters, coach Victolero found an instant replacement from the bench to fill-in the scoring void and that was Justin Melton.
“Yun ang pinakamaganda doon, nakita natin ‘yung strength ng team,” said Victolero.
