The Magnolia Hotshots Pambansang Manok is scheduled for a head-to-head game against the Columbian Dyip at 4:30 P.M. on June 16, 2019 live from the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.
The Hotshots are looking to add another victory after starting the conference slow while the well-rested Dyip wanted to welcome their last year’s top scorer with a win.
Yup that’s right, the flashy guard of the Columbian squad is about to make his return as well as his 2019 PBA Commissioner’s Cup debut this afternoon at the Big Dome.
Jerramy King is cleared to play after being on the sidelines for five months due to an injury he suffered in their 44th PBA season opening game against the San Miguel Beermen.
In that match, they have stunned the eventual 2019 PBA Philippine Cup behind the stellar performances of King and his back-court partner Rashwan McCarthy plus the from their prized rookie.
Speaking of Columbian’s rookie, CJ Perez was almost unstoppable in their last outing as he notched his career-high of 39 points.
Also, the squad coached by Johnedel Cardel will parade a new import. Lester Prosper from the SUNY Old Westbur has replaced Kyle Baron as the team’s reinforcement player.
For Magnolia’s side on the other hand, after his not “so-good” performance during their match against the NorthPort Batang Pier, James Farr made a rebound.
Farr was spectacular in their match against the NLEX Road Warriors where he led his team for a comeback in the third quarter.
“The team came together when it got tough. We went down 10 in the third quarter … we looked at each other and said: ‘let’s come back and win’ and that’s what we did,” Farr said.
Coach Chito Victolero is pleased that his new replacement seems like already adjusted to his new environment.
“Si James nakaka-adjust na siya,” Victolero observed. “This is only his second game in four days so medyo mabigat sa kanya.”
“But I’m very happy for him kasi kahit papaano nakaka-contribute na siya,” added Victolero.
