The Magnolia Hotshots Pambansang Manok is scheduled for a head-to-head game against the NLEX Road Warriors at 7:00 P.M. on July 4, 2018 live from the Mall of Asia Arena.
The Hotshots are looking to make a quick bounce back game while the Road Warriors will try to make a repeat by beating their All-Filipino semis opponent when the 2018 PBA Commissioner’s Cup resumes in Pasay this evening.
NLEX may be the last team to have their third conference bound import playing in the Commissioner’s Cup. Apart from Justin Brownlee of Barangay Ginebra San Miguel, Eugene Phelps of the Phoenix Petroleum Fuel Masters and Henry Walker of the Blackwater Elite, NLEX will make an early test for Olu Ashaolu as a replacement for Arnett Moultrie.
Ashaolu is a 6’7 power forward who had a short stint with the Milwaukee Bucks during the 2012 Summer League. He is also have experience in an interntational basketball game as he suit up for Spanish and Japanese leagues.
Likewise, the Hotshots will also parade a new import this evening but he’s not new in PBA. 2015 PBA Commissioner’s Cup Best Import Wayne Chism will be playing with coach Chito Victolero squad.
Surprisingly, he will go up against his former PBA mentor coach Yeng Guiao and his former team last year. Last 2017 PBA Commissioner’s Cup, Chism helped NLEX to register only two wins with nine losses. That time, the Road Warriors still struggling finding the right combination in their local lineup.
When the second conference started, the Hotshots were magnificent with Vernon Macklin but when their import left as he joined a Chinese League team their winning momentum was also got lost.
Coach Victolero and the entire Magnolia fans are hoping that Chism will bring the same success as the Quarterfinals round is just around the corner.
