The Magnolia Hotshots Pambansang Manok is scheduled for a head-to-head game against the Phoenix Petroleum Fuel Masters at 4:30 P.M. on May 6, 2018 live from the Mall of Asia Arena.
The first runner-up Hotshots of the All-Filipino Cup will make its 2018 PBA Commissioner’s Cup this afternoon while the Fuel Masters will attempt to make a quick bounce back game when PBA resumes.
Coach Chito Victolero had managed to led the Magnolia Hotshots Pambansang Manok to the promise land of the league but unfortunately unable to snag the championship trophy last conference.
They surrendered to the defending All-Filipino Cup champ, the San Miguel Beermen in Game 5.
This second conference Magnolia will be reinforced by former Barangay Ginebra San Miguel import Vernon Macklin who is known as a rebounding machine and also excellent in the defensive end of the floor.
Victolero’s main job at the moment is to make sure that his locals and his import will have a good chemistry inside the basketball court.
“We’ll just try to bring back the rhythm and timing of our players and also the chemistry of our locals with (import) Vernon Macklin,” said Victolero.
After winning its first assignment this conference against the Blackwater Elite, Phoenix absorbed its first loss in the hands of Talk ‘N Text KaTropa.
Playing consistent basketball is what coach Louie Alas has demanded to his troops. In their past two outings, they have noticed that they’re being outscored by their opponents in the third quarter.
“Two games na every third quarter problema kaming mag-execute,” said Alas. “Bad choice of shots, resulting in fastbreak, transition points.”
“We need to solve it.”
