The Magnolia Hotshots Pambansang Manok is scheduled for a head-to-head game against the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters at 5:00 P.M. on February 10, 2018 live from the Calasiao Sports Complex, Pangasinan.
The Elasto Painters will make an attempt to push their winning streak into three while the Hotshots are eyeing a bounce back game after losing a against the San Miguel Beermen.
Despite of having some internal conflict between coach Caloy Garcia and several of his players, Rain or Shine was still able to pile wins and even have an opportunity to finish as top two teams at the end of the eliminations round.
Landing that slot seems difficult but not impossible and the Elasto Painters head coach already have a plan on how to achieve that goal.
“We are playing against one of the top teams and a team that looks so fluid on both ends of the floor,” said Garcia. “It will be tough but we just have to limit our mistakes and have to put more effort on defense for us to have a shot to win.”
The Hotshots are playing spectacular this All-Filipino conference and was having a blazing five-game winning streak but was put in a full halt when they stumbled against the wall of the Beermen.
Definitely coach Chito Victolero wanted his Magnolia Hotshots Pambansang Manok get back on the winning track once again and might already cautioned his troops with the possible distractions while playing on the road.
“Reminder is to have the proper mindset because there are so many distractions in out-of-town games. We need to have the same aggressiveness that we showed in our last few games because we want to build consistency going into the playoffs,” Victolero also said.
Now that they’re qualified going to the 2017-18 PBA Philippine Cup second round, the Hotshots are also aiming for the top two slot.
“We need to focus for this game. It’s a very important game for us to solidify our chances for the Top Two,” said Magnolia coach Chito Victolero.
One key player which Magnolia missed during their campaign against the Beermen is the services of Paul Lee. His status remains a day-to-day and Magnolia’s coaching staff will only utilize the “Angas ng Tondo” once they got a clearance from their physical therapist.
