The Magnolia Hotshots Pambansang Manok is scheduled for a best-of-seven semi-finals match against the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters. Game 1 is at 7:00 P.M. on April 12, 2019 live from the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Eight teams are out and only four teams left as the second round of the 2019 PBA Philippine Cup Playoffs starts tonight at the Big Dome.

Prior to the start of the 42nd PBA season a blockbuster trade shook the Philippine basketball world which involves the Elasto Painters and the Hotshots.

Star dealt their main gunner James Yap in exchange for RoS Paul Lee.

After that trade, there’s not much of memorable battle between the two ball-clubs.

Rain or Shine also had a coaching staff switch at that time as the franchise seems like experienced a major adjustment.

Then on 2018 PBA Commissioner’s Cup, Yap’s found his old self. He became a clutch player once again and the main offensive option especially in the crucial moments of the game.

This year, after the departure of Chris Tiu, Yap’s playing minutes increased. In this current conference, he averaged 14.7 points per game.

Paul Lee on the other hand, his transfer to the SMC franchise was a quick transition. Then on 2018 PBA Governors’ Cup he helped his team to end the four-year championship drought.

Lee was also named as the 2018 Governors’ Cup Best Player of the Conference. It was his first BPOC award.

In their lone encounter during the elimination round, RoS edged Magnolia with just a point.

That close-game match between the Hotshots and the Elasto Painters is just a preview of their exciting best-of-seven series.

Interestingly, it was also the showdown of Paul Lee vs James Yap especially in the few minutes of the game.
