Philippines is still searching and hoping for the first ever Gold Medal in Olympics and this time it’s within reach or shall I say the chance is higher as Manny Pacquiao can potentially represent the flag that have three stars and a sun in Rio de Janiero, Brazil 2016 Olympics.
AIBA President Dr. Ching-Kuo Wu personally sent an invitation to Manny Pacquiao to fight in Brazil and the so-called Philippines National Fist replied to the press that he’s happy to do the honor of representing the Philippines in the boxing event of the 2016 Rio de Janiero Olympics.
The world’s sole eight-time world champion in several weight categories mentioned that he’s willing to represent the Philippines in the Olympics. Pacquioa was cited as saying “It would be my honor to represent the country in the Olympics,” Pacquiao said in a statement to AFP.
Manny Pacquiao further added that “If I would be asked to represent boxing, why not? I would do everything for my country.”
The 37-year-old Manny Pacquiao, regarded as among the world’s richest boxers will certainly represent the Philippines as soon as AIBA will choose to vote in favor of giving opportunity to professional boxers to represent their nation in the Olympics.
